Home loss pushes Maffra to fifth

MAFFRA has fallen to fifth place on the Country Basketball League women’s ladder after a 68-60 home loss to Moe on Saturday night.

The Eagles led by two points at half-time, but the Meteors scored 15-11 in the third quarter to take six-point lead into the fourth term, when the visitors extended the margin to eight by full time.

Caitlin Demczuk scored 17 points for the Meteors, and Samantha Waters 14.

Emerson Connolly and Jenny Wrigglesworth scored 12 points each for the Eagles.

THE Maffra men and both Sale teams had the weekend off.

Both Maffra teams will sit out this weekend, while Sale will play at Warragul this Saturday night, with the women from 6pm and the men from 8pm.
