SALE-MAFFRA and Traralgon will face off in the Gippsland Cricket League clash of the round this Sunday at Heyfield, which at its conclusion should see one association remain unbeaten and perched at the top of the table.
Form wise, both associations have had big wins in one of their two games so far this season, and will be eager to give themselves more breathing space as the race for places for the final tightens up.
The match promises to be a display of clinical cricket, with class players from each association featuring throughout.
Elsewhere, Warragul will host Leongatha at the picturesque Hallora oval, which generally offers a good balance between bat and ball.
Drawing its last match to Bairnsdale, Warragul will take confidence from the fact it competed strongly with the reigning premier.
Leongatha was also unlucky not to win its last match against Sale-Maffra, with the game coming down to the final wicket.
Leongatha will be looking to put Warragul under pressure to remain a mathematical possibility of reaching the final.
Latrobe Valley will welcome Bairnsdale to Churchill, and will be desperate to snap its run of poor form to begin the GCL season.
Having being bowled out cheaply in its opening two games, Latrobe Valley will be pressing hard to put a winning score on the board should it bat first.
Conversely, Bairnsdale will be looking to inflict maximum pain on the Latrobe Valley bowlers, as it searches for a win to see it nip at the heals of Traralgon and Sale-Maffra on the competition ladder.
