LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
WHAT is going on with natural gas?
It appears that we Aussies are paying 22 per cent more for our natural gas than what the gas companies are getting for gas exported overseas.
How can that be?
Where are the people that control prices to local consumers?
I am told that other countries have fixed prices on local consumption (the United States has quantity and prices set, then the exports happen).
Surely there is a controlling body in this country to stop firms ripping the domestic market off.
Is it the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission or is it up to Darren Chester and his mates to stop this rorting?
I am sure nobody objects to a fair price for service, but for the local market to be paying 22 per cent more than they are exporting our gas for is crazy.
What is going on?
