FLYWHEEL Bella backed from a victory at Sale on Sunday night to win at the same track on Wednesday.
The greyhound, trained at Gormandale by Sam Bye, won race seven, the 440 metre free for all.
Flywheel Bella set up an early lead, and couldn’t be caught, winning in 25.13 seconds, more than five ahead of favourite Aston Clurey, trained by Nathan Rooney at Nilma Darnum. Usain Spolly finished third for Kilmany trainer Steve Spoljaric.
The heats of the 440m series for dogs with one to four wins were held on Wednesday, with the top three in each progressing to the final on August 16.
The first heat was won by Nera Enough, trained by Gavin Burke at Alberton West, in 25.03s.
In second place was $22.80 chance Fenway Lights, prepared by Kate Gorman at Tanjil South, with $34.30 chance Sad But True third for Brian Alford at Yarram.
Shot Gun Pistol, trained by Lyn Smith at Nambrok, led the second heat all the way to win in 25.13s.
Root Rock Riot, trained by Greg Berry at Toolleen, was second, with Adonis Sands, trained by Leslie Hughes at Giffard, third.
The program began with General Rose (25.74s) winning a 440m maiden for Rosedale trainer Sharon-Lee Chignell. The win came after the dog had two second and two third placings from his first six starts.
In second place was Full Of Talk for Vicki Wisener at Hazelwood, with Into The River third for Nambrok trainer Gary McMillan.
General Collina recorded a third consecutive victory for Boisdale trainer Stephanie Tyler in the race two 440m mixed grade six and seven. The dog overcame trouble in the back straight to win in 25.71s.
After winning at Warragul last week, Financial Tarra won race four, the 520m event restricted to dogs with one to three wins, for Bundalaguah trainer Corey Fulford
The $20.60 chance worked from the back of the field to lead in the home straight to win in 30.04s, 0.89s ahead of fast-finishing favourite Ultimate Mac, trained by Frank Andrighetto at Lance Creek.
Race 10, a 440m grade five, was won by Sacred Path (25.53s) for Brian Alford. Airly Spence finished second for Kym Russell at Sale, with Skittle third for Kellie Morrison at Kilmany.
Race five, another 440m grade five, was won by Atlantic Jewell (25.09s) for Greg Berry.
The race six 440m grade five was won by favourite Zambora Lou
(24.75s), a third victory from his past four starts. The dog, trained by Jason Thompson at Pearcedale, won in 24.74s, outsprinting Dream Wizard, trained by Sean Lithgow at Devon Meadows.
Kate Gorman’s Stirling Lights (29.66s) won race eight, the 520m mixed grade four and five, ahead of Zipping Samara, trained by Carolyn Jones at Rosedale, and Akina Harley, trained by Phillip Rowley at Denison.
The race 11 440m grade five was won by Alfie Mikado (25.32s) for Hoddles Creek trainer Paul Jones.
Scorching Ember came second for Stephanie Tyler, ahead of Bulk Billed, trained by Ronald Winter at Denison.
Greyhound racing continues at Sale on Sunday, with the first of 12 races at 1.50pm.
The feature will be race five, the 440m grade five final at 3.21pm.
